Be still and take a moment to breathe. Feel the quality and integrity of your connection to The Web of Life. For it is the nature and quality of how you connect to this Web that determines your daily experiences and patterns in your life. Observe how you feel and ask yourself this question: Have I been feeding and nourishing my inner light or the dark shadows that consume, and dim the light within me?
We have been gifted with the ability to discern between negative and positive energies and thankfully possess the ability to repel, as well as attract them. As we navigate our way through these varied energies, we become aware that, a focus on unwanted energies can accelerate an accumulation of inharmonious energies that can affect our daily routine.
These inharmonious energies are attracted to and accumulate around emotions such as self-hatred, hating others, swearing and negative thinking. Additionally, external sources of negativity can accumulate around us when we spend time with negative people, or visit sick land or sick dwellings.
Ignoring negative energies can also cause negative energies to accumulate around us, such as when we ignore how we feel around other people or spend time in dwellings that carry sickness.
Fatigue, feelings of depletion, brain fog, feeling blocked, anxiety, depression, accidents, bad luck and difficulty making positive life changes are some of the symptoms that can be indicators of a build of up negative energies around you. If you are experiencing these issues in your life, it would be good to reflect on how a build up of negativity is contributing to your reality.
In this modern world, it can be challenging to be aware of and or clear inharmonious energies as our connection to Mother Earth and our bodies have become muted, due to our time spent being inactive, and our extended time using technology. Indigenous practices remind us how to reconnect to reconnect to ourselves and to the healing power of Mother Earth’s Medicines. They both allow access to tools that can release you from remove accumulated toxic energies and assist you with fostering more positive relationships with yourself and others.
Incorporating Indigenous Practices with daily routines can be very effective for clearing Negativity:
Mindfulness Practices: Our Medicine bowl is made up of our womb, pelvic floor, sacrum and hips. This area helps us to remain grounded and healthy. The health of our Medicine Bowl also affects our level of creativity, our confidence, the function of our immune system and the ability to bear children. When our Medicine Bowl becomes sick, our body, mind and spirit become sick and vice versa. To clear and Nourish your Medicine Bowl, it is important to develop a connection to it. Close your eyes and visualize traveling down the center of your body until you reach your pelvic floor. Visualize yourself sitting cross legged on your pelvic floor and direct your focus so that your tail bone connects to the Medicine Bowl floor with a cord. Set the intention to clear the cord of heavy or blocked energies with your breath. Hold this vision and continue to breathe into this area for 15 minutes. This Indigenous Wisdom Practice will bring cleansing and nourishment to your inner core of your Spiritual Fabric. This in turn will lift unwanted energies away from you.
Physical Activity: The health of our physical body plays a large role in how susceptible we are to unwanted energies. Poor physical health leads to damage of our vessel which allows negative energies to get in and or become stagnant. Regular exercise not only also releases endorphins, which elevate mood, but breaks down unwanted accumulation of blocked and unwanted energies in your physical and spiritual bodies. As we deepen our connection with our physical vessel it becomes easier to change its state of wellness. Each day, give gratitude to your body and ask it to work with you for healing. Then set your intention to remove blocked and unwanted energies, and invite the power of “THUNDER” to awaken within you. As you begin your exercise routine and hold this intention and repeat the Blackfoot word for Thunder “ksiistsikom” ( pronounced kitsikom) while exercising until your session is complete. A minimum of 17 minutes is required to activate the energetic dislodging using Thunder Medicine.
Gratitude Journaling: Feeling and sending gratitude awaken your ability to envision what you want more of and comprehend what you no longer desire. When we acknowledge our ability to connect spiritually to all living energies we begin to understand that gratitude can be shown for all aspects of our life. Feeling gratitude in your heart and soul, instead of your head, will allow you to create a positive shift within yourself and shift your relationship with all living beings. After you have acknowledged and felt your gratitude while journaling, give an offering of tobacco as a gesture of gratitude to Great Spirit and your Ancestors. Thank them for everything you have. The tobacco offering can be placed outside in your garden or in a park.
Smudging: Plant Medicines are sacred. Indigenous People have used them since the beginning of time. While there are a variety of smudges that have different purposes, the smoke from burning White Sage plant medicine is used to clear heavy, unwanted energies. This plant medicine is a very powerful living Energy. Daily Smudging is recommended if you are being challenged by negative energies. Smudge both yourself and your home one to two times per day until you feel a positive shift.
Bathing: The Great Water Mother cleanses and nourishes us. She is also a Living Energy. Bathing in a stream, lake or ocean will act as Medicine that will cleanse negativity. The Great Water Mother will lift sick energies away from you. Alternatively, if you are unable to travel, you can prepare a bath and add 3 drops of Pine Needle oil. Stay in the bath or body of water for at least 20 minutes.
Once you have cleansed yourself, give an offering of of flowers to a body of Water (The Great Water Mother) as a demonstration of your gratitude for the cleansing you received.
Conclusion
Being aware of and being able to clear negativity is a transformative journey that empowers you to take control of your thoughts, emotions, and patterns in life. By implementing Indigenous practices with your daily routines, you can cultivate deeper and more nourishing relationships with yourself and others, develop a relationship with Living Healing Energies, create a space for attracting positive cycles and shifts, and experience greater moments of peace, joy and fulfillment.
